Additional Insomnia Information

The terrifying, spine-tingling world of the grandmaster of the horror genre comes to life in a chilling audio rendition of Stephen King's latest novel.

What Customers Say About Insomnia:

Stephen King as the uncanny ability to create characters that I can relate to and put them in situations that raise my awareness to deal with some of the little problems I have in my own life.Stephen king is a true master at weaving the story line throughout his books, and I would say this was one of the best ones to showcase that talent. I was glad to read a story that seemed to have been brought about from a page of my own life. It is a good lesson to be given to people who thing they have nowhere to turn with their own predicament. The main character did not seam like he was going to be able to handle all the strangeness that was invading his life, but out of persistence he was able to pull it all together and with a little help he was able to stop a great tragedy. Insomnia kept me reading on several nights when I was dealing with the same affliction. The story started out in an intriguing way and continued to build as the pages turned.

I don't enjoy reading sex scenes about people in there seventies. Throughout the book he would go off on random one- and two-page rants that made no sense and had nothing to do with the story. And the other major problem, all of his characters are extremely old. and those are just the major reoccuring ones.

I'm so glad the book was a free-bie gift at a friend's garage sale. The only reason why I finished it was because I read the first 100 pages and felt it neccessary to finish all 600 pages. The biggest problem with this book is that it has NO STORY LINE whatsoever. Insomnia was quite easily the worst book I've ever read.

It seems like the only reason why King wrote this book was to explain his feelings on random pop-culture topics, like the "Asian-invasion," abortion, over-the-counter sleep aids, domestic violence. It was awkward and gross.Having read very little of his works to begin with, I doubt I'll pick up anything else of his again. If I had actually spent money on it, I would have demanded a refund.

I'm too ashamed to even give it away.

I'd love to see this reissued after jailing those responsible for this criminal effort. Honestly, shrill doesn't even come close. What in the name of heaven were they thinking when they put this together. I wish I could offer a better review on this. I want my $$ back. The background "music" (Read NOISE) is harsh, jarring and disruptive. While most of the reading by Mr Eli Wallach is adequate, about 1/3 of the way in, 2 new characters are introduced and the screeching high pitched wailing he uses for these two characters can not be adequately described. The book, wasn't one of Kings best, but certainly not a bad book either. The problem lies in the production of this audio book. It is horrid.

Every one or two pages you see a "l" as a "1" or where and "r" is before a "n" (like "concern") you get an "m" ("concem"). It does not make the book unreadable but you would expect better. The book is ok, a little slow as other reviews point out. This is annoying. English is not my fist language but I could do a far better job correcting the book than Amazon is doing. But the main problem is that the Kindle edition is full of misspellings and typos. Apparently they scan a normal book and have some OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to get the digital version, but with absolutely no quality assurance.

I did, just don't expect a great read. If you're not already into Stephen King, this book might not be for you. We all know that not everyone can do 100% all the time, and this book is a indication. It's more of a 'light' read, at least to me, and is something that one would enjoy in the waiting room or on an airplane. Try 'Christine' or 'It' instead. It's not as scary as some of his other books, and I found it plodding in a few places. If you're a SK enthusiast, you may enjoy this book.
